When Nagarjuna Akkineni slammed the concept of Bigg Boss and called it voyeuristic

Soon after makers of the reality show released the first promo of Bigg Boss Telugu 3, Nagarjuna Akkineni received backlash for accepting the offer. Read on.

Nagarjuna Akkineni, as we all know will be hosting the third season of the reality show, Bigg Boss Telugu. After two successful seasons, the makers of Bigg Boss Telugu are back and the new season will see Nagarjuna as a host. Soon after makers of the reality show released the first promo of Bigg Boss Telugu 3, Nagarjuna received backlash for accepting the offer. The actor was mocked for doing the reality show as he had once lambasted the concept of Bigg Boss. One of the Twitter users wrote, "@iamnagarjuna how cheap one can become. You fall in your own eyes."
Nagarjuna during the promotions of movie Devadas back in September 2018, was asked to share about his views on Bigg Boss. To this, he laughingly replied, "I don't like to speak about Bigg Boss, because I will talk bad about it." The actor was further asked about what he didn't like about the reality show, the host or contestants, to which he replied, "No! I am not talking about Nani. But I don't like the concept of the show Bigg Boss. I don't like a voyeuristic show, where you are watching what another person is doing. I don't like these things. It is almost like gossiping." The reality show will reportedly premiere on July 21 (Sunday). However, Bigg Boss makers are yet to announce about the contestants and air time.

Bigg Boss Telugu 3: From launch date to probable contestants

01/8Bigg Boss Telugu 3: From launch date to probable contestants, all you need to know about the upcoming season

Bigg Boss Telugu season 3 is making a lot of buzz for all the right reasons. Nagarjuna Akkineni was officially announced as the host recently. With just a few days away, here’s all you need to know about the upcoming season of the reality show.

02/8New look and feel

The upcoming third edition of the show will have a new look and feel and the title logo says it all. The title track of the show is refreshing too. Unlike the previous season, the first set of teasers was centred on the host. And the latest teaser announcing Nagarjuna as the host set the expectations right for the show.

03/8Bigg Boss Telugu 3 to launch on...

The show is most likely to launch on July 21 (Sunday). The previous season hosted by Nani was launched in June, 2018. However, this season was apparently delayed due to the cricket world cup 2019. Speculations were rife that the makers are considering 28 July as well but the release of the first look proved that the show is set for 21 July. However, an official confirmation on this is still awaited.

04/8Bigg Boss house

The Bigg Boss house shall host 14 contestants for 100 days. The house is being constructed in Annapurna 7acres, a property belonging to host Nagarjuna's Annapurna Studios. Though the debut season hosted by Jr NTR was shot in Lonavla, the house is shifted to Annapurna 7acres, Hyderabad, in the second season.

05/8Probable contestants this season

Many celebrities were speculated to be taking part in the show. Most of them including Rashmi Gautam, Sobhita Dhulipala, Udaya Bhanu, Hemachandra, Lasya Manjunath, Teenmaar Savitri have already clarified that they are not a part of the show. However, TV host Sreemukhi, Ravikrishna, Varun Sandesh, Rahul Sipligunj are expected to contest this season, reports suggest. However, the full and confirmed list of contestants in Bigg Boss Telugu 3 is expected in the premiere episode.

06/8No commoners this time?

Unlike the previous season, fans cannot expect commoners as contestants in the show this time. Besides the rumours, Nagarjuna, in the recently released teaser, can be spotted stating that 14 contestants shall participate. This added weight to the rumours as well. While the earlier season of the show featured 16 contestants (14 celebrity + 2 commoners) and two wild card entries later. This implies that this season may not have commoners. Scholar-turned-politician Nutan Naidu, RJ-turned-techie Ganesh have shot to fame with Bigg Boss Telugu season 2.

07/8Nagarjuna’s rumoured fee is raising many eyebrows

Host Nagarjuna's rumoured fee for Bigg Boss Telugu 3 is raising many eyebrows. Nagarjuna is charging around Rs. 12 lakhs per episode, reports suggest. The upcoming season shall run for not less than 105 days (if not extended for special reasons) and the host shall appear only on weekends. Speculations were rife that Nagarjuna charged around Rs. 7 lakhs for Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu, the Telugu version of Amitabh Bachchan's Kaun Banega Crorepati. And the makers of Bigg Boss have left no stone unturned to convince the busy actor to sign up for the show.

08/8Nagarjuna gets trolled for signing up for Bigg Boss

Bigg Boss Telugu 3 made headlines for Nagarjuna's comments on the show. Soon after being announced as the host of the show, Nagarjuna was criticized for signing the show as he earlier made some contradictory statements. A video excerpt from one of Nagarjuna's interviews wherein the actor can be seen stating that he hates the concept of Bigg Boss as the show is 'voyeuristic', is going viral. And Nagarjuna received flak for hosting the same show this season.

The actor is expected to comment on the same in the official press meet of the show that is likely to be organized soon.
